Nike Taps Ex-Tesla Exec For Diversity Chief Role

Nike has appointed its second director of diversity and inclusion after the current head is stepping down after two years in the role.

Kellie Leonard who served in the role since its creation in 2018 will be replaced by Felicia Mayo, according to an email to Nike staff reviewed by the Financial Times.

According to the email, Nike CEO John Donahoe said the move was a “structural shift” which “allows for more meaningful change, focusing on equal access to opportunity for all” employees.

A Nike spokesperson said Leonard was leaving the company to “pursue other interests”.

Mayo joined Nike in 2019 from Tesla, and will assume the new title of chief talent, diversity and culture officer.
