Investigation Into The Ellen DeGeneres Show Launched Following “Toxic” Workplace Allegations

An investigation into the workplace environment of The Ellen DeGeneres Show is currently underway following multiple allegations of a”toxic” culture.

Executives from show producer Telepictures and distributor Warner Bros. Television sent a letter to all staff last week saying they have engaged WarnerMedia’s employee relations group and a third party firm to interview current and former staffers about their experiences on set, according to Variety.

The decision to investigate the Ellen Show workplace environment followed a string of articles that included allegations from current and former show employees of mistreatment and discrimination.

BuzzFeed News published an article online earlier in July which featured former staff members alleging a “toxic work culture”. The ex-employees also said they faced “racism, fear and intimidation”. Most of the blame was laid on the three of the show’s executive producers: Ed Glavin, Mary Connelly and Andy Lassner.

In a joint statement to BuzzFeed News, Glavin, Connelly and Lassner said: “For the record, the day to day responsibility of the Ellen show is completely on us. We take all of this very seriously and we realise, as many in the world are learning, that we need to do better, are committed to do better, and we will do better.”

Neither Warner Bros. Television or DeGeneres have publically commented on the investigation.
