Sunday TV Wrap: Seven’s Investigation Into The Peter Falconio Murder Proves A Hit

Further confirmation that viewer’s love a good murder mystery, Seven’s doco into the disputed case of British tourist Peter Falconio who disappeared in the Australian outback in 2001 last night proved a surprise hit.

Murder In The Outback posted 1.03 million viewers last night according to OzTAM metro numbers and proved a winner as Seven gave Big Brother a rest for the evening.

Combining with impressive numbers for its 6pm news bulletin (1.237 million), Seven took Sunday with 30.6 per cent of all of last night’s eyeballs (all channels). Nine had 27.3 per cent, 10 did 19.1 per cent, the ABC took 15.9 per cent and SBS did 7.1 per cent.

In the battle of the reality TV shows, MasterChef (957,000) saw off The Voice (749,000).

Nine’s 6pm news bulletin did well with 1.138 million, but 60 Minutes (559,000) was down as viewers turned to Seven’s Falconio doco.

Nine’s movie Deadpool pulled 342,000.

In the battle of the footy codes, Seven’s AFL did 405,000 and Nine’s NRL mustered 306,000. Again, these are linear TV numbers and don’t include Foxtel, Kayo or people watching the games in clubs and pubs.

Other standouts for 10 included The Sunday Project (462,000), FBI: Most Wanted (336,000) and 10 News First (333,000).

The ABC’s evening ran thus: 7pm news (706,000), Vera (626,000) and Grand Designs (526,000).
