Mother And Daughter In Woolies TP Tussle Face Up To 10 Years In Jail
A mother and daughter whose Woolworth’s toilet paper tussle went viral across the globe face up to 10 years in jail over the incident, as reported on The Daily Mail AU.
The incident, which happened on Saturday March 7, was filmed and uploaded online in the height of the toilet paper crisis that swept across the nation.
The mother and daughter were filmed fighting with another shopper over toilet paper at Chullora Woolworths, and were subsequently charged by police.
It’s been reported the duo were angry that a woman got hold of a toilet paper pack. Police are alleging the pair used “unlawful violence” towards the woman, causing her to “fear for her safety”.
The mother and daughter were supposed to appear in Bankstown Local Court today, but the hearing date has been pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. Police allege the pair used ‘unlawful violence’ towards the woman, causing her to ‘fear for her safety’.
In a video which went viral on Facebook and took off across the globe, the mother and daughter can be seen attempting to protect their Quilton-loaded trolley, as another woman attempted to grab a packet. There was plenty of hair-pulling, shoving and screaming.
The fight ended after a Woolworths employee intervened.
NSW Police were called to the Woolworths store and spoke to the victim that morning. While the victim escaped the tussle unharmed, the accused pair handed themselves into the policy that evening. They were charged with affray, an offense that has a maximum punishment of up to 10 years’ in jail.
