Hungry? You Can Now Order Food On Instagram

Instagram has announced new tools that will give users the ability to order food on the platform for the first time.

There is also a new tool to help share fundraisers, as the social media platform searches for ways to support small businesses during COVID-19.

“For many small businesses right now, we know that every sale helps. We want to do our part in helping them stay open, keep in touch with customers, and stay informed on how to navigate this crisis. These new tools make it easier for people to [share fundraisers and] make delivery food orders from small businesses on Instagram” Instagram APAC head of market operations Kaylie Smith.

To activate the Food Order feature, businesses must add their delivery partner link in Settings, under Action Buttons.

In Australia, the current food order platforms include Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and Door Dash.

Businesses can also add a “Order Food” sticker to their Instagram Stories, which is now available in their Stories tray.

When users tap on the Stories sticker they will be taken to a food order platform to complete the purchase.

When sharing fundraisers, individuals and business-owners can select “Personal Fundraiser” on Facebook and then select the new Business category to set-up their fundraiser.

Businesses can activate a “Donate” button on their Instagram profile by adding their FB fundraiser link in Settings, under Action Buttons.
