Louis Vuitton To Produce Hand Sanitiser To Help Fight COVID-19

Cologne, Germany - August 23, 2012: Louis Vuitton Store near Cologne Cathedral

LVMH, owner of luxury brand Louis Vuitton, has announced it will use its perfume production lines to start producing hand sanitiser amidst the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Across the globe, hygiene products are flying off the shelves, including hand sanitiser. LVMH said it wants to help the nationwide shortage in France by producing its own line of hand sanitiser.

“These gels will be delivered free of charge to the health authorities,” LVMH announced on Sunday.

“LVMH will use the production lines of its perfume and cosmetic brands… to produce large quantities of hydroalcoholic gels from Monday.

The factories are normally used to produce perfume and makeup for ultra-luxe brands like Givenchy and Christian Dior.

“LVMH will continue to honour this commitment for as long as necessary, in connection with the French health authorities,” the company said.

It is unclear how much the hand sanitiser will retail for, but if it’s anything like the cost of its other goods, safe to say it will cost more than your average bottle of Dettol.
