NRL Team Blows $2M Sponsor Deal With Latest Sex Scandal

The Canterbury Bulldogs have lost a $2 million sponsorship deal, following news of a sex scandal.

As reported in various media outlets, players Corey Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor took highschool girls back to their team hotel in Port Macquarie two weeks ago.

Although the players are not facing any criminal charges, both have been reprimanded by the club.

Upon learning of the news, family restaurant chain Rashays have withdrawn a $2 million jersey sponsor deal.

The timing of the scandal could not have been worse for the club, which has been on the hunt for a new jersey sponsor since long-time sponsor Kia dumped the club in favour of rivals the Brisbane Broncos this year.

Although club captain Josh Jackson attended last week’s NRL season launch in a sponsorless jersey, the deal with Rashays is believed to have been all but a done deal.

So much so, that the Herald even managed to obtain images of the could-have-been jersey.
