Triple M Affected By SCA Cuts As One Of Its Shows Gets Axed

Triple M’s Australia By Night has been axed as part of a major restructure of the radio network.

As reported yesterday, up to 90 people at Southern Cross Austereo have been left jobless.

While it still remains unclear exactly which departments have affected by the cuts, it’s clear that on-air talent aren’t exempt, as Stephen Cenatiempo’s show has been canceled as part of the restructure, B&T can confirm.

Cenatiempo had hosted the 10pm to 12am show for almost two years. He was also a multi ACRA award winner.

In a media statement to B&T, a spokesperson for the network said: “The entire advertising and media sector is operating in a challenging and difficult market and Southern Cross Austereo has and is being equally affected.

“Management, with the support of the board, have conducted a comprehensive review of our workforce structure to provide an effective and efficient organisation for now and into the future. These proposed changes will impact some of our people.

“These decisions have not been taken lightly and we are committed to supporting our people as we work through this process.”

Following ‘Black Tuesday’, SCA’s shares slipped 3.7 per cent yesterday to $0.92 at close.
