Thursday TV Wrap: Bachie Finale Goes Over One Million, Love Island Finishes Without Much Love
This year’s Bachelorette is done and won. Ange has chosen Carlin and the lovebirds can look forward to the woman’s glossies covering their every move for the next six months before possibly having short-lived radio and/or soapie careers.
According to OzTAM metro numbers, some 1.006 million viewers tuned in to see Ange choose her man, leaving runner-up, Timm, looking slightly pissed off. Some 848,00 viewers watched the episode proper.
Commenting on the numbers, Network 10’s chief content officer Beverley McGarvey said: “We couldn’t be more pleased for Angie and Carlin, and wish them every happiness for the future.
“Once again this year, The Bachelorette Australia proved its popularity with viewers across all platforms. It is one of the most engaging and noisiest shows on television and across other platforms and viewers clearly loved Angie and the bachelors.
“The success of this year’s season is a testament to the passion and hard work of many people on and off screen. I’d like to thank Angie for sharing her fairy tale journey with us, and the contestants for opening up their hearts to finding love. I also want to thank our production partners Warner Bros. International for their brilliant work in bringing this season to life and everyone at 10 for their tireless efforts,” she said.
Network 10’s chief sales officer Rod Prosser added: “A big thank you to our commercial partners for their support across the season.
“The Bachelorette Australia continues to deliver fantastic results for advertisers and it was great to work with you all to bring your brand story to life through cross-platform integration and innovative activations.”
In other loved-up TV news, Nine’s Love Island also finished as it began – with a whimper – pulling just 302,000 last night (main channel only).
Meanwhile, Trial By Kyle continues to struggle, it could only do 320,0000 last night.
Last night’s Bachie finale gave 10 a spike in viewer numbers, it pulled 23 per cent of all of last night’s eyeballs. However, it still failed to knock-over Seven (29.7 per cent) and Nine (25.7 per cent). The ABC had a bit of an off night with 14.9 per cent and SBS could only do 6.7 per cent.
In the battle of the 6pm news bulletins, Seven (873,000) beat Nine (703,000). ACA did 572,000.
Other highlights for 10 were The Project (408,000) and 10 News First (323,000).
Over at Nine, David Attenborough’s Seven Worlds One Planet did 564,000 and Hot Seat (382,000).
Best for the ABC was its 7pm news with 619,000, 7.30 had 469,000 and Grand Designs managed 351,000.
