Monday TV Wrap: We Love A Winner, As Ashes Final Day Pulls 760,000

It appears all is forgiven following “sandpaper gate”, with Nine’s Ashes coverage pulling some serious eyeballs.

Last night’s final day peaked at 760,000 during the first session according to OzTAM metro numbers.

The match – won by Australia – was broadcast on Nine’s Catch-up 9Gem and beat both Australian Survivor (713,000) and Australia’s Got Talent (688,000). Nine’s The Block pulled 859,000.

Meanwhile, 599,000 viewers hung about to see the second session of the Test and 593,000 were still there to see Australia claim victory.

Nine won Monday with 37.8 per cent of the audience share (all channels). Seven had 24.7 per cent, 10 had 16.8 per cent, the ABC did 14.7 per cent and SBS pulled six per cent.

However, when broken down to individual channels, Seven was first with 17.6 per cent, 9Gem was second with 17 per cent and Nine was third with 16.2 per cent.

Other standout for Seven included its 6pm news (1.031 million), Home And Away (676,000), The Chase (599,000) and The Rookie (558,000).

In the battle for breakfast, Sunrise (255,000) beat Today (204,000).

Over at 10, Have You Been Paying Attention? (650,000), The Project (511,000) and 10 News First (399,000) were its other standouts.

Nine did well with its 6pm news (852,000), ACA (849,000) and Hot Seat (489,000).

The ABC’s Monday ran this way: 7pm news (667,000), Back Roads (570,000), 7.30 (545,000), Four Corners (513,000), Media Watch (457,000) and Q&A (302,000).

Best for SBS was Secrets Of The Queen’s Children that did 186,000.
