Pinterest Announces 300 Million Monthly Active Users Globally
Pinterest is announcing that more than 300 million people come to the platform every month.
To mark the occasion, researchers at Pinterest commissioned a survey with TalkShoppe* to ask more than 2,000 Pinners about their attitudes around Pinterest and look at how it is tracking on its mission and helping people find the inspiration to create a life they love.
Here are some of the key findings:
- More than 91 per cent of Pinners say that Pinterest is a positive place.
- More than 9 out of 10 Pinners say Pinterest inspires them, gives them ideas for their life and helps them achieve their goals.
- 8 per cent of Pinners say that Pinterest leaves them feeling empowered.
- 83 per cent of Pinners say that Pinterest helps them build their confidence, compared with 49% of people saying that about social media platforms.
Pinterest likes to say that it is the place where you can be yourself, and not your selfie.
What makes Pinterest most proud is how Pinners say the platform makes them feel: happy, positive and empowered. Not just because its goal is more people, its goal is more happy people.
Pinterest is a visual discovery engine that helps people discover new ideas, from what to cook for dinner to how to decorate your home to what products to buy or where to go for your next holiday.
With more than 200 billion Pins saved, Pinterest serves billions of personalised recommendations each day. In Australia, more than 3 million ideas are saved each day.
As more than 80 per cent of sign-ups are outside of the U.S., Pinterest meets you where you are with locally relevant ideas to help you take action offline for the big and small things in your life.
On Pinterest there are bikers looking for motivation (“biker quotes inspiration” searches are up +123 per cent), business owners growing their businesses (“entrepreneur inspiration motivation” +47 per cent, “branding inspiration” +231 per cent), and women planning to propose (“women proposing to men” ideas +334 per cent).
There are also people who go to the platform simply looking for new ways to live their truth (“be yourself inspiration” +58 per cent, “Male to female transformation” +96 per cent, “coming out ideas” +131 per cent).
