Pinterest Unveils New Emotional Well-Being Activities

Pinterest is taking an interest in the mental health of its users, introducing a collection of new well-being exercises to appear on the app.

The guided activities have been created in conjunction with academic experts and offer users “an interactive way to try to improve their mood”.

When a user searches something like “stress quotes” or “work anxiety” they will be prompted to explore these new resources.

“People come to Pinterest to discover ideas, get inspired and focus on themselves, their interests, their futures,” said Pinterest product manager Annie Ta.

“But we know that life isn’t always so inspiring, and things on the internet aren’t either.

“Real-life feelings and experiences carry over to our lives online. For instance, in the last year there have been millions of searches in the U.S. related to emotional health on Pinterest.”

Ta also pointed out that the new services are not intended to replace professional care, rather they have been put in place to help someone if they need support.

The social media site does not track who is using the services, and stores all the data anonymously using a third-party service.
