Ballsy Move! Footy Streaker Revealed As Southern Cross Austereo Executive

A man that streaked at an NRL match on Sunday afternoon has been revealed as a senior sales executive for Southern Cross Austereo.

Some 24,000 spectators and countless TV viewers were treated to some extra balls on the field when Matthew Cooper ran onto the field naked during the dying stages of the Parramatta-West Tigers game at Bankwest Stadium.

Sadly, Cooper’s dash didn’t last for more than a few seconds after he was quickly rounded-on by three security guards who covered his modesty and escorted him from the field.

According to media reports, Cooper – who sells across the 2DayFM and Triple M networks –  was given a complimentary ticket to the game by the NRL courtesy of SCA’s broadcast rights deal with the competition. It’s unclear if the ticket also included unlimited hospitality and alcohol.

In a statement to B&T, a SCA spokeswoman said: “SCA is aware of the matter and currently looking into it further.”

According to reports on The Daily Telegraph, Cooper was seen undressing behind a TV cameraman before making his now infamous dash.

In worse news for the 34-year-old, the maximum fine for streaking at the ground is $12,000 and up to a year in prison.

Following his au naturel run, Cooper was promptly arrested and charged with wilful and obscene exposure and was also charged under the pitch invasion act. He is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court in August.

Interestingly, Nine’s TV coverage covered Cooper’s act in full. Something it’s tended not to do at the cricket so as not to encourage the practice.

Cooper’s stunt also proved good value for Nine’s commentators Ray Warren and Andrew Johns.

“And we got a streaker on the field. Where’s those binoculars?” Johns joked.

“You don’t want to look,” Warren responded.

“Oh yes I do,” Johns said.

“You don’t need binoculars, I can assure you. Andrew, I tell you what, you’d have to have big magnification on them,” Warren joked.
