Radio Ratings: Sydney’s Stable, Meanwhile Melbourne Experiences Major Shakeup
The day you’ve all been hankering for has finally arrived: GfK radio ratings survey 4 results are in.
In Sydney 2GB remains dominant across all key metrics overall, and Kyle & Jackie O are still second in breakfast despite falling -0.9 to 10.9 per cent, while it was a disappointing result for 2DayFM, falling to 4.7 per cent (-0.9) overall.
Melbourne, however, experienced a major shakeup. Fox FM is now the #1 station with 9.8 per cent, knocking smoothfm off the top spot who fell to third with 8.8 per cent behind gold. KIIS FM is up 1.3 per cent on breakfast, which is 0.1 per cent ahead of Triple M’s Hot Breakfast. 3AW remains the market leader overall across breakfast and drive.
B&T has created a sweet and snappy rundown for each of the metro markets, so you don’t have to. Check out where the radio industry currently stands below.
SYDNEY
Unsurprisingly, Macquarie Media’s 2GB remained in top spot overall with 14.0 per cent, while smoothfm took out second spot (down 0.1 per cent to 9.9 per cent) and KIIS1065 lost their place to WSFM who finished third with 8.2 per cent.
Interestingly, there were no significant losses across the breakfast slot, with 2DAY FM taking the biggest hit at -1.1 per cent to 3.1 and KIIS1065 down -0.9 per cent to 10.9.
Drive spots also had little movement, KIIS1065 was down -1.2 to 8.3 per cent and 2Day FM down -1.0 per cent to 4.8 per cent.
Breakfast
First: 2GB’s The Alan Jones Breakfast Show (down 0.2 per cent to 17.4 per cent)

Third: ABC Sydney’s Breakfast with Wendy Harmer and Robbie Buck (up 1.0 per cent to 9.9 per cent)

MELBOURNE
Was there an earthquake in Melbourne? Because there’s a lot of movement here.
It was no surprise either that Macquarie’s 3AW finished in first place overall, with 15.6 per cent, slightly up from last survey (0.5 per cent). smoothfm, who took out second spot last survey, dropped out of the top three after losing 1.5 per cent (down to 8.8). 101.9 Fox FM snuck the second spot after gaining 0.8 per cent to 9.8 and Gold104.3 stayed firm in third place despite a loss of -0.9per cent market share to 0.9 per cent.
There was notable movement in Melbourne’s brekkie ratings. smoothfm lost a staggering -2.2 per cent in audience share leaving them with just 6.7 per cent. Another notable movement was 101.9 Fox FM, who seemingly took a decent chunk of smooth’s listeners with a 1.6 per cent gain, up to 10.5 per cent.
In drive, the most notable movements came from GOLD104.3 losing -1.5 market share to 9.1 per cent, whilst Fox FM was up 1.3 to 11 per cent.

Third: Hit 107’s Hughesy & Kate (down -1.6 per cent to 9.8 per cent) tied with;
FIVAaa’s David & Will (up 0.7 per cent to 9.8)
PERTH
The ground was also shaking in Perth where reigning champion Mix 94.5 was ungracefully knocked of the throne with a whopping -2.2 per cent overall audience loss (down to 12.1 per cent), now sitting (un)comfortably in second place.
The new champion is none other than Nova 93.7 who saw a 1.5 per cent gain, up to 14.1 per cent.
6JJJ took the third spot with 11.5 per cent audience share, up an impressive 1.7 per cent from last month.
