German Women’s World Cup Team Show Us Their Balls In Empowering New Ad

The German Women’s World Cup team’s new ad has been praised for its strong message of female empowerment.

With the impending 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Germany’s female team has everyone talking about its ad that slams the ridiculous sexism the athletes face on a regular basis.

The ad, produced by sponsor Commerzbank, features the team’s players and their manager revealing just some of the inequalities they deal with, such playing for a nation who doesn’t know their names, or their incredible World Cup record (just FYI – they have won eight times).

Calling out the sexist remarks the team has to deal with, such as “women are just there to have babies”, the ad has been praised for shining a light on gender inequalities in professional sport.

The tagline of the video is: “We may not have balls, but we know how to use them.”

The campaign has struck a chord with people around the world, with many taking to Twitter to air their praise.
