It’s not all new owners and Lisa Wilkinson’s recruitment over at Ten with news out of the network that Studio 10 executive producer Rob McKnight (main photo) has been sacked from his role.

McKnight was instrumental in launching the breakfast panel show in November 2013 that has steadily closed the ratings gap between rival Nine’s Today Extra and Seven’s The Morning Show.

There has been no explanation for McKnight’s sudden departure, however, there had been reports of tensions between him and Studio 10 on-air personalities.

McKnight broke news of his dismissal via an emotional post on his Facebook page. “I almost worked myself to death for the show and pretty much had a breakdown recently (and those who know me know I’m a pretty strong character so it shows I really was pushed beyond the limits),” McKnight wrote.

“But I am not bitter, I was given a great opportunity and I wish everyone that works on Studio 10 all the very best.”

Meanwhile, Seven has confirmed that it would not be proceeding with a new series of Murder Uncovered that will lead to the loss of eight network jobs.

In a media statement yesterday, Seven said the series would not return as part of the network’s undertaking “to streamline its business and reduce costs, as is the case across the media sector”.

Craig McPherson, Seven’s director of news and public affairs, said: “It is never easy to decide not to proceed with a programme but unfortunately, we have had to make a tough call in these tough times.

“Murder Uncovered set the benchmark in the true crime genre thanks to an extraordinarily talented team. I wish each and every one of them, the very best. It was a great programme and I thank them all for their work.”
