Dan Johns Resigns As IPG’s Chief Operating Officer

IPG Mediabrands’ chief operating officer Dan Johns (main picture) has unexpectedly resigned from the role after little more than 12 months, B&T can reveal.

Johns was one of incoming CEO Danny Bass’ immediate appointments last year when he was promoted from group commercial director. Johns has worked for IPG since May 2013.

His resignation comes amid reports Bass was leading the charge to merge three of IPG’s smaller agencies – Ensemble, Society and Reprise – into the one. It’s unclear if this decision had anything to do with Johns’ resignation.

In a statement to B&T, a spokesperson said: “IPG Mediabrands has announced that the group’s chief operating Officer Dan Johns has resigned from the business.

“Mediabrands CEO Danny Bass said that in a four-plus year career at Mediabrands Johns had made major contributions to the success of the group.”

Bass added: “We wish Dan the very best in his next career decision.”

Johns said he had enjoyed his senior role at Mediabrands and wished the group every success.
