Rebel Wilson Accused Of Misleading Court As Bauer’s Lawyers Go On The Attack

The actress Rebel Wilson has been accused of making false statements regarding the extent of damage done to her career following articles in Bauer’s Woman’s Day and Women’s Weekly which inferred she was a serial liar.

Wilson, who is presently trying to sue the publisher for defamation in the Victorian Supreme Court, has alleged acting work practically disappeared since the articles were published in May 2015.

However, today Bauer’s lawyers said Wilson had signed movie deals worth millions since the articles and suggested Wilson had given false evidence to the court and withheld crucial documents. Wilson denied the claims.

Bauer’s QC Georgina Schoff said it was untrue that Wilson hadn’t got any work and outlined roles in Pitch Perfect 3, a remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and comedy Isn’t It Romantic as evidence to the contrary.

Schoff also produced documents that show Wilson was fired from the kids film Trolls – which Wilson claims was a result of the Bauer articles – that were dated two months before the articles were published.

“Obviously I’m not claiming my career s ruined forever. I’m a very hard working person … I will rebuild my career,” Wilson said.

The case is due to run another two weeks and Wilson has said she will attend every day of the trial.
