TV Crew Caught As Volcano Erupts

A BBC camera crew, filming on top of Sicily’s famed Mount Etna, have been lucky to escape with their lives as the volcano exploded live to air.

Thankfully nobody was killed, however, members of the crew and other tourists were hit by boiling rocks and steam. Some eight people had to be evacuated by rescue teams.

Check out the action below:

BBC reporter Rebecca Morelle tweeted: “Running down a mountain pelted by rocks, dodging burning boulders and boiling steam – not an experience I ever want to repeat again.”

Morelle said a guide had suffered a dislocated shoulder, while a 78-year-old woman had been very close to the blast, but managed to get away safely. She later tweeted this image of her cameraman’s very burnt coat.
