News Corp Takes $US10 Million Stake In Programmatic Player AppNexus

News Corp has announced it will pump $US10 million ($A13 million) into adtech company AppNexus as part of a $US31 million ($A40.3 million) strategic investment round.

The deal also includes News Corp Australia and will see AppNexus’ full suite of adtech products available to all News Corp’s media brands globally.

Commenting on News’ move, AppNexus president Michael Rubenstein said: “Today’s announcement signals our joint commitment to innovation over the long term. As News Corp accelerates its digital expansion, AppNexus will provide leading-edge technology.”

David Brinker, senior US vice president and head of business and corporate development at News Corp, said: “As individual businesses in our company started adopting AppNexus products into their technology stack, we gained further appreciation for their services. We are pleased to invest in AppNexus as we continue our partnership across our news, real estate and technology assets.”

The deal also augments AppNexus’ current relationship with Unruly, a video advertising tech firm that News Corp acquired in September 2015.
