Nike’s New “Bollywood” Girl Power Ad Goes Viral With 2 Million Views In 12 Hours
A new Nike campaign aimed at women is being hailed a huge success after it scored two million views in its first 12 hours of release.
It probably helped that the ad was shot in the most populated country on the planet – India – and features some of the country’s best known Bollywood starlets and female sports stars.
Check the ad out here:
The ad – set to Gener8ion’s Da, Da Ding – stars Indian movie siren Deepika Padukone and Indian hockey hero Rani Rampal with the aim of pushing more women into sport. It also features footballer Jyoti Ann Burrett and cricketers Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandana and Shubhlakshmi Sharma.
The ‘girl power ‘ad was a collaboration with Wieden+Kennedy Delhi and directed by French director François Rousselet. There was also an accompanying stills shoot, too.
A Nike release said of the ad: “Sociological findings suggesting that female participation in sport helps to alter a girl or woman’s self-image in numerous ways, including feelings of control, competency and strength.” See below for extra stills from the campaign…
