YouTube -Twitch take over unconfirmed

Rumours that YouTube is set to buy game streaming platform Twitch for $1 billion are a touch premature, with the Wall Street Journal reporting that the negotiations are still in the very early stages.

On Sunday night, Variety reported that the Google "empire" was expanding to acquire popular gaming service Twitch. The Wall Street Journal says neither YouTube nor Twitch have released any official information as of yet and that they are still in the early stages of negotiations.

Twitch allows gamer’s to stream video games in real-time. One of the key features of Twitch is the ability to give live commentary whilst playing.

Twitch users took to social media to express their concerns about the take-over.

The main problem, according to TIME, is that YouTube would have even less competition than it does now and if they steer the platform in an unwanted direction, users are stuck with nowhere else to go.

The primary concerns for users are the possibilities of a Google+ integrated account, and the likely implementation of more disruptive advertising.

There are possible perks too. Other social media users believe the tech-giant is likely to pour their seemingly unlimited resources into improving the service.
