Resurrection almost reaches 2 million in five city metro

The debut episode of Resurrection on Seven last night pulled in a whopping 1.911 million viewers in a five city metro, helping Seven win the total combined share with 38.7%.

The drama at 8.45pm last night, which sees loved ones returning from the dead not having aged a day, drew in the most viewers in Sydney (511,000), with Melbourne close behind (505,000), according to OzTam preliminary ratings.

Add in regional viewing to that mix and the number shoots up 2.820 million viewers.

Resurrection nabbed the top place in the top twenty shows last night, pushing Seven’s reality cooking show My Kitchen Rules down to second place with 1.721 million viewers and Nine’s The Block to third with 1.341 million.

Seven managed to grab six of the top twenty shows for yesterday, which also included the news and Today Tonight (1.084 and 1.047 million viewers respectively), Home and Away (990,000 viewers) and Parenthood (739,000).

Nine saw seven of its shows in the top twenty yesterday, including the news at 6pm and 6.30pm (1.227 and 1.104 million viewers respectively), two episodes of The Big Bang Theory (994,000 and  770,000 viewers) and Hot Seat (636,000 viewers).

Seven easily won the total combined share last night with a total share of 38.7%.

Its main station saw 31.8% of that share.

Nine came second with a total share of 28%, with Nine’s main channel seeing 22.2%.

Five of ABC’s shows found their way into the top twenty, with the ABC News pulling in the most viewers for the station (788,000) and coming in 11th place.

The 7.30 Report, New Tricks, ABC News Update and Foreign Correspondent were the other shows that made it into the top twenty.

ABC came third for yesterday with a total share of 15.5% with ABC1 seeing 10.5% of the share.

Ten came in fourth with a total share of 13% with its main station seeing 9%.

Ten Eyewitness News and The Project found themselves in the top twenty, in 14th and 19th place respectively.

SBS came in fifth with 4.8%, 4% of that going to its primary channel, SBS One.
