News and law enforcement draw most eyeballs

News and current affairs dominated our TV screens last night, with Seven News coming in marginally above Nine News as the most popular program with 1.1 million viewers.

Nine News, which scored an audience of 1.06 milllion, sat just above Seven’s Today Tonight (984,000), while ABC News ranked fifth and Nine’s A Current Affair took out seventh place (833,000).

Beyond news, it was law enforcement-themed entertainment which captivated Australian audiences.

Seven’s Border Security ranked fourth with 879,000, while its Motorway Patrol came in sixth with 852,00 and SCU: Serious Crash Unit sat eighth on 743,000.

Ten News At Five ranked 12th on the official OzTam Free-To-Air Metro Overnights, and was the network’s highest rating show of the evening.

Seven won the majority share of audience, with 32.2%, while Nine came in second on 24.3.

Ten's share was only marginally above the ABC's audience share, with the commercial network on 18.1% and the public broadcaster on 17.5%.
