Wil Anderson Reckons He Can Solve ABC’s Youth Talent Crisis

There have been rumblings for a while that The ABC Network hasn’t invested enough in youthful talent, and Wil Anderson reckons he can solve it.

It’s no secret that The ABC Network has stuck with what has worked. So Wil Anderson, Shaun Micallef and even Fran Kelly have long been fixtures on the network. Kelly was recently criticised for being too late to host a Friday not show.

However, that has led to criticism that the network has failed to invest in upcoming talent. However, in fairness to the network, Anderson, Micallef and Kelly are bloody good at what they do, and Australians deserve to enjoy them.

Plus, we can’t ignore that plenty of women can be treated as disposable once they get older, so the fact ABC sticks with its female talent could also be applauded. (Well, maybe not applauded. It should be the bare minimum, but the world we live in isn’t always fair).

Nevertheless!  The Sydney Morning Herald has reported that Anderson has offered a solution to ABC’s youth issue. He said: “Let’s make something!

“Let’s get all these young people and give them more shows and do something in a slot – I don’t care where it is, it could be 10.30 on a Friday night, or we find a channel, and we do it every night — let’s just invest in people.”

It’ll be interesting to see if Anderson’s ideas are heard.
