Ita Buttrose Declines To Lend Her Royal Expertises To Discuss The Queen’s Death On Major Networks

ABC’s Ita Buttrose, who has spent a huge bulk of her career covering the Royals, has turned down commercial offers to cover the queen’s death.

While rumours are swirling, both Nine and Network 10 have reached out to Buttrose to share her thoughts on the Queen’s death, and her insights on what she thinks will happen next with the Royal family.

Buttrose hasn’t been seen on any television screens discussing the end of the Queen’s seven-decade reign. Instead, she’s chosen to share her thoughts purely on her ABC.

It’s a loss for the major networks when you consider that Buttrose knows the Monarchy pretty bloody well. During her huge career, she hosted three royal weddings across three television networks. But she’s been surprisingly absent from the networks as people grieve the loss of The Queen.

Instead, Buttrose has remained loyal to ABC, opting to participate in an interview with David Speers and Sarah Ferguson during an ABC news bulletin that turned into a two-hour special commemorating the Queen.

It won’t be a huge surprise to B&T if she ends up having a major role in the government-funded network’s coverage of The Queen’s funeral.

But it is interesting that Buttrose hasn’t ventured further to discuss the monarchy. Maybe she’s aware her takes will bring in some needed eyeballs to ABC.
