The Hottest Contenders To Take Over Grimshaw’s Reign Of Chasing Down Dodgy Aussies

The Hottest Contenders To Take Over Grimshaw’s Reign Of Chasing Down Dodgy Aussies

Grimshaw has announced she’s stepping away from A Current Affair, and now B&T is here to do our best detective work; okay, guesswork to figure out her replacement.

After shooting off a few texts to our contacts at Nine and getting absolutely no replies (thanks, guys), we narrowed the list down to our top five.

Dark Horse Guess:

Brooke Boney

Brooke Boney

She’s obviously made a name for herself on Today. She’s a hit with the audience and has the cool factor because she has that Triple J background and is a bit of an influencer these days. Plus, we all forgave her for taking half of Richard Wilkins’s job.

She’d be an edgier and younger choice for the programme, and it could be a total vibe.

Why Not Guess?

Ben Fordham.

Ben Fordham

He is killing it on the radio and has won over various listeners. Plus, he has television experience and is part of the Nine family. I can just see it now! Breathless chasing down a shoddy tradie all while weairng his signature blue suit.

Dead Easy Guess:

Deborah Knight.

Deborah Knight

Knight is a bit of a Nine legend. She’s been rattling around for ages, and she hosts the weekend version of A Current Affair, so it’d be an easy manoeuvre by Nine to get her on the books full-time. Is it an exciting one? No. Would it generate any buzz? Probably not enough.

But it’s a safe choice, and we do not doubt Knight could kill it.

Why Not Piss Off Seven Guess?

Sonia Kruger

Yes, she’s hosting every show on Seven and raising a child, but Sonia Kruger has proved to have mass appeal and conservative values.

I feel like chasing down shoddy tradies, and Centrelink fraudsters could put Kruger in her element, and she deserves to be in her element!

Naturally, this may never happen because she is Seven’s golden girl, but it’d be very bloody cool to see a more news-serious side of Kruger. I have no doubt she could leave a Prime Minister or a dodgy tradie shaking in their boots.

B&T Dream Guess:

Karl Stefanovic

King Karl

He has the experience and charisma, and it would definitely create some buzz. Plus, who wants to do early mornings forever? The only issue is that we’d love a woman to replace Grimshaw.

At this point, it is anyone’s game. If these people were smart, they’d be baking cakes to win over the big dogs at Nine!

That’s how any B&T journo worth their salt gets a promotion from our editor John Bastick. Well, that and giving him tickets to see the Eels.
