Peter Overton Stops News Bulletin To Deliver Poignant Message In Light Of Paul Green’s Death

Nine News presenter Peter Overton took a break from delivering the news, to share an important message in light of Paul Green’s tragic death.

Overton had the tough job of reporting on Green’s untimely death. Green, a rugby league legend, was the coach that led the Cowboys to victory in 2015. He was much loved and respected and tragically took his own life.

In a powerful move, Overton used his platform on Nine News to share a very important message.

Overton threw out the usual newsreader script, and News.com.au  reported that he said: “If you are struggling with your mental health, please talk to someone.

“Ask, ‘Are you OK?’ Take a friend for a coffee, or a walk; confide in your GP. Share your feelings with your family.

“Just talk to someone. You might be surprised how many people you know have the same struggles. You are not alone.

“One of the best places you can call is Lifeline. They are there to listen, and they are there to help.”

It was a powerful moment on Nine News, that showed a lovely side of Overton and shared an important message.
