Lizzie Young Waves Goodbye To Nine After A Decade To Join New Ad Startup

Lizzie Young, a senior executive at nine, has handed in her resignation to join tech ad startup WeAre8 as its CEO.

Young is the managing director of local markets and group marketing and has been with Nine for almost a decade so her resignation is the end of an era.

Young is the second executive to walk away from Nine during Mike Sneeby’s tenure. The first, of course, was publishing officer Chris Janz.

Janz was reportedly one of the frontrunners to take the vacant CEO role before Sneeby’s snagged it.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Nine’s Mike Sneesby said: “Lizzie Young has made a significant contribution to Nine since she joined us 12 years ago and we thank her for her passion and energy which she brought every day.

“We wish her well in her new role as CEO of WeAre8 in Australia.”

Naturally, Young already has another job lined up and will be a chief executive at advertising startup Weare8. The social app is backed by ex-footballer Rio Ferdinand and has been making waves in the advertising world. Basically, the app claims to reward people financially for watching advertisements.

So it sounds like Young will be putting her talents to good use.
