Keanu Reeves Red Pills NFT’s

Target acquired, instead of taking down Agent Smith in the Matrix or hundreds of goons in John Wick, Keanu Reeves has now obliterated NFT’s.

In an interview with the Verge for the upcoming title The Matrix: Resurrections, Reeve’s couldn’t contain his laughter when asked about his opinion on NFT’s.

As part of the leadup for the new film Warner Bros. and start-up Nifty’s offered 100,000 unique NFT’s representing characters “living” in the Matrix for sale on November 30th.

Costing $US50 ($A70) a pop, the NFT’s proved to be so popular that the site on which they were being sold temporarily crashed.

After the interviewer later suggested that NFT’s are digitally scarce, Reeve’s cheekily responded, “They’re easily reproduced.”

Before Reeve’s view dangerously speeds off like an unstoppable bus rigged with explosives, let’s pull the emergency breaks.

Despite the assumption that NFT’s can be captured with a screenshot or right-click saved, they are essentially valueless without an official authentication digital certificate upon purchase.

This is much the same as taking a photo of the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, you could have twenty copies but it’s not in the same league of value as the certified original made by Leonardo da Vinci.

While you can enjoy looking at the Mona Lisa photos on your phone, you can’t sell that picture for anywhere near the value of the original because at the end of the day it’s just not the real original deal.
