Tuesday TV Wrap: ABBA Doco Makes Seven The Dancing Queen In Tight Race For The Throne

After the beloved band ABBA announced via TikTok (of course) that they would be releasing new music, Seven seized on the momentum by airing doco ABBA Forever.

Originally broadcast in 2019, the doco tells the story of the band’s formation, and the Eurovision win that both launched them to stardom and taught multiple generations of music lovers what the battle of Waterloo was. The program scored 526,000 viewers.

In other entertainment news, while the mid year programs nabbed mixed results, the current entertainment offerings have been growing with gusto.

The Block has risen significantly in the past week after middling opening numbers, nabbing a very nice 911,000 viewers as per OzTAM’s metro numbers.

10’s Australian Survivor didn’t rate quite as high, but still performed well at 707,000 viewers – its high point of the week.

On top overall was Seven News with 1,157,000 viewers followed by Nine News with 1,072,000. A Current Affair had 773,000 viewers while ABC News had 702,000.

The rest of Seven’s night saw Home and Away score 662,000 viewers while The Chase had 617,000.

On Nine, Hot Seat nabbed 498,000 viewers while The Hundred With Andy Lee had 413,000 and Nine’s Afternoon News had 363,000. It also scored 335,000 viewers with Tipping Point.

Over at 10, The Project had 535,000 viewers, 10 News First had 373,000 and The Cheap Seats had 348,000.

Finally for the ABC, 7.30 netted 482,000 viewers.

It was an incredibly tight race for top of the daily share between the Seven Network and the Nine Network. Seven just won, with 29.5 per cent to Nine’s 29.3 per cent.

Network 10 was in third with 20.4 per cent, while the ABC TV Network had 13.8 per cent and the SBS Network had 6.9 per cent.
