Kanopi Appoints Vanessa Sammut As Head Of Growth Marketing

Digital insurance platform Kanopi has appointed former Assembly Payments marketer Vanessa Sammut as Head of Growth Marketing, immediately building out its marketing arm with two additional hires.

Sammut brings almost a decade of tech and fintech marketing experience to the role. In addition to her work at Assembly Payments, Sammut held marketing roles at UK payments company WorldPay and technology firm Canonical.

Sammut is joined by Marketing Coordinator Akanksha Baadkar, who joins from UM Worldwide and Digital Content Creator Natalia Abramova, who previously held a role at The Australian National University.

Founded in 2016, Kanopi is a digital insurance platform for companies across logistics, retail, financial services and property technology.

The insurtech connects major insurers and digital platforms so they can tap into Kanopi’s data-driven insights in order to provide the right insurance policies to their customers.

Commenting on the appointment, Founder and CEO of Kanopi Nigel Fellowes-Freeman said: “Vanessa is our first major marketing hire at Kanopi. It’s great to have her aboard and her experience in financial services will prove instrumental to our growth.

“We’re bullish on growing our brand quickly. Understanding that one marketer can’t do it all, we’ve immediately backed her up with the additional hires of Natasha and Aki. They are welcome additions to our team, as we look to evolve the way both businesses and consumers source insurance.”

Sammut added: “This is an incredible challenge for me, and to be immediately supported with two additional hires shows Kanopi’s commitment and understanding the importance marketing plays in achieving growth.

“It’s almost a cliche in startups that marketers in the sector are an army of one. For most emerging companies, they run digital, social, sales enablement and brand. It’s a big job. You are both the strategist and person running the strategy. Your time can be so split that it can be difficult to do all aspects of it efficiently and well.

“Aki and Natasha bring creativity and analytical capabilities that will enable us to ramp up activity so together we can build, test, learn and growth hack Kanopi.”

Sammut’s hire follows Kanpoi’s AU$4 million capital raise and the completion of its rebrand. The company was formerly known as Expense Check.
