Wednesday TV Wrap: Sixth Season Premiere Of Hard Quiz While Tennis Stays Steady

ABC’s season premiere of Hard Quiz just pipped Nine’s tennis coverage as Rafael Nadal was knocked out by Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, who became only the third person to triumph over Nadal after conceding the first two sets.

In a solid night for Nine, the tennis peaked at 655,000 – a slight decrease from yesterday.  The day match, which saw Aussie legend Ash Barty get knocked out by Karolina Muchova, had 315,000 viewers according to Oztam.

ABC’s Hard Quiz was the best performing show outside of the news, with 684,000 overnight viewers for the premiere of the show’s sixth season. ABC News again took out the bronze for news coverage with 710,000 viewers, beaten by Seven News with 996,000 viewers and Nine News with 882,000.

More generally for the ABC network, it was a fairly good night with 7.30 seeing 590, 000 viewers, The Weekly With Charlie Pickering scoring 554,000, and Aftertaste rounding out the top twenty with 314,000.

Indeed, ‘fairly good’ aptly describes the Seven Network’s evening too. Viewership for Home and Away and Ambulance: Code Red neither fell nor rose dramatically from previous nights, seeing 537,000, and 348,000 viewers respectively. The Chase got a boost to 569,000 viewers.

Network 10’s viewership dipped slightly for The Project, which had 437,000, though 10 News First fared better than on Tuesday with 370,000 viewers.

SBS’s best-performing program was Michael Palin: Travels of a Lifetime with 191,000 viewers.

Nine (all channels) again took the highest share of viewers at thirty-four per cent, followed by Seven Network with twenty-three per cent. ABC (all channels) just pipped Network 10, receiving seventeen per cent of the daily share, while the latter had sixteen per cent.

Like every other night this week, SBS took eight per cent of the viewers.
