Beans On Weetabix?! 126K Likes Later, Brands Trade Insults Over “Criminal” Dish Pairing
It’s the stuff of nightmares: beans atop the breakfast of champions. But it happened.
Earlier this week, the United Kingdom’s version of Weet-Bix, Weetabix, decided to share a tweet in which Heinz baked beans were poured over two wheat biscuits. The audacity.
“Why should bread have all the fun, when there’s Weetabix?” Weetabix tweeted, to which 126,300 people liked, 102,600 retweeted and quote tweeted, and another 21,300 replied (at time of writing).

It’s the second time this week Kraft Heinz has committed sacrilege to much-loved foods—we’re looking at you Candy Kraft Mac & Cheese. But, luckily, brands were there this time to defend those of us who’d prefer our beans very, very far away from our Weetabix.
Even a few Australian brands and institutions jumped in on the fun.
“And suddenly we’re kind of okay with the international borders being closed,” Virgin Australia tweeted.

“Please do not report crime via social media,” the Victorian Police said, as one of many other police forces around the globe who joined in to condemn the move as “criminal”.

However, most of the commentary came from other well-known UK-based brands.
“Us: Pineapple on pizza is the most controversial food ever. Weetabix: Hold my spoon,” Domino’s Pizza UK added.

While the likes of Nando’s and KFC put aside their differences to have a cheeky dig at Weetabix, after KFC asked Alexa “how do I delete someone else’s tweet”.
You okay hun? DM's are open if you need to talk 💖

Finally something that all Middle-Eastern countries can agree on.
Just no.
