Aussies Thank The ABC’s “Life Saving” Coverage In Latest In-House Campaign Via ABC
Australians from across the country have thanked the ABC for the essential role it has played in these challenging times, from life-saving emergency broadcasts through to educating and entertaining audiences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a year beset by bushfires, floods, drought and the ongoing impact of Coronavirus, thousands of Australians have expressed their appreciation for the ABC’s content and services, including its unrivalled support for regional communities, independent producers, local artists and students who have been forced into remote learning.
Highlights of that unsolicited positive feedback from multiple Australians feature in a moving 60-second promo which has debuted across ABC’s multiple platforms.
Diana Costantini, Creative Director, ABC MADE, whose team produced the promo in-house, said that it recognises the essential and practical support the ABC has provided to Australians through these tough times.
“It is not our job to put a script in the hand of an actor and ask them to read something nice about the ABC. Our job is to harness authenticity and we are so thrilled to be receiving more comments than ever from people across the country. We wanted to celebrate some of the beautiful sentiments by crafting a deliberately quieter spot that allows you to sit back and take in some of the rich and wonderful feedback. The work might have been produced in-house by the ABC MADE team but it was made special because of Australians”.
Leisa Bacon, Director Audiences said that with the disruption we’ve all experienced in 2020, the ABC has become even more critical for Australians.
“This is particularly the case for regional Aussies where ABC Local Radio is often the only source of accurate information and updates for people going through emergency situations. Whether it be educational children’s content, news and current affairs or light relief through our original comedies – the ABC is for all Australians”.
