Brooke Corte Named As New Host Of Macquarie’s Money News

Macquarie Media has named business journalist Brooke Corte as the new host of Money News, the radio program Ross Greenwood exited from last week.

Greenwood’s departure came amid a string of changes at Macquarie Media following Nine’s takeover, however, it is unclear the circumstances surrounding Greenwood’s exit.

And now, Macquarie has appointed Corte to take his place, with the show covering the latest news business and finance news five nights a week across 3AW, 2GB and 4BC.

“Money News is an integral part of our program schedule wrapping the day in business and giving listeners what they need to know on the way home,” said Greg Byrnes, Macquarie Media’s head of content.

“I’m very happy that a journalist of Brooke’s calibre will take over the reins as the show moves into 2020.”

Corte has been a business journalist for nearly 20 years, spending most of that time as an anchor on Sky News Business.

On her appointment, Corte said: “We’re at a crucial juncture as a country in terms of finance and business, so I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to host a dedicated money program in 2020.”

“After the events of this year, it’s clear there has never been a more important time to understand the value of our money and the stories that impact on our household finances.

“It is a real privilege to join Macquarie Radio, with the outstanding broadcasters on air right around the country, and I look forward to joining them.”

Macquarie Media’s demographic skews towards middle-aged males, so the move to appoint Corte in the role is certainly interesting, but likewise a push in the right direction for diversity across the networks’ hosts.

It follows yesterday’s new that journalist Deb Knight is set to replace 2GB and 4BC presenter Steve Price, who hosted The Steve Price Show for less than six months.

Price had been with Macquarie Radio for almost 10 years. Knight will host Price’s afternoon slot on 2GB and 4BC, while also continuing fill-in duties on Nine’s Today show.
