“Get Ready For Scurvy!” UK Government’s $250 Million Brexit Campaign Gets Gloriously Roasted

There appears few plusses in the whole Brexit mess engulfing the UK, but at least it should prove a bit of a boon for the advertising industry.

Boris Johnson’s government has just unveiled a £140million ($A250 million) advertising campaign to prepare Britons for their exit from the European Union at the end of October.

Titled “Get Ready for Brexit”, the campaign will run across TV, social media, outdoor and other platforms.

The campaign is in response to Brits’ apparent confusion about what will happen when the country exits the EU and includes information on things like passports, travel to Europe and for UK businesses that trade with their European counterparts.

Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Michael Gove said: “Ensuring an orderly Brexit is not only a matter of national importance, but a shared responsibility. This campaign will encourage the country to come together to Get Ready for Brexit on 31 October.”

But as the Poms tend to do with these sorts of things, the campaign has been brilliantly spoofed by pro-remainers. Check out some of the wonderful social media responses to the campaign below:
