Award-winning​ ​journalist,​ ​editor​ ​and​ ​book​ ​publisher,​ ​​Shona​ ​Martyn,​ ​​returns​ ​to​ ​Fairfax​ ​Media following​ ​as editor of its Saturday arts section Spectrum following​ ​successful​ ​career​ ​at​ ​HarperCollins​ ​Publishers​ ​as​ ​publishing​ ​director​ ​for​ ​more​ ​than​ ​17 years.

Martyn​ ​is​ ​a​ ​former​ ​editor​ ​of​ ​​Good​ ​Weekend​ ​​magazine​ ​and​ ​was​ ​also​ ​founding​ ​editor​ ​of​ ​​HQ​​ ​magazine for​ ​ACP.

​ ​Martyn​ ​said:​ ​“I​ ​am​ ​excited​ ​to​ ​be​ ​returning​ ​to​ ​journalism​ ​-​ ​and​ ​to​ ​Fairfax​ ​Media​ ​-​ ​in​ ​the​ ​role of​ ​Spectrum​ ​editor.​ ​After​ ​all,​ ​I’m​ ​one​ ​of​ ​Spectrum’s​ ​multitude​ ​of​ ​loyal​ ​and​ ​culturally​ ​adventurous readers!​ ​After​ ​a​ ​highly​ ​enjoyable​ ​period​ ​in​ ​book​ ​publishing,​ ​this​ ​is​ ​a​ ​welcome​ ​opportunity​ ​to​ ​focus more​ ​broadly​ ​across​ ​the​ ​arts​ ​and​ ​into​ ​the​ ​lifestyle​ ​area​ ​too.

At​ ​HarperCollins,​ ​Martyn​ ​was​ ​responsible​ ​for​ ​publishing​ ​authors​ ​such​ ​as​ ​Jimmy​ ​Barnes,​ ​Peter FitzSimons,​ ​Richard​ ​Glover,​ ​Colleen​ ​McCullough,​ ​Rosie​ ​Waterland​ ​and​ ​Geraldine​ ​Brooks,​ ​to​ ​name a​ ​few.

Shona​ ​also​ ​served​ ​on​ ​the​ ​board​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Sydney​ ​Writers’​ ​Festival​ ​for​ ​eight​ ​years.​ ​Her​ ​knowledge across​ ​film,​ ​television,​ ​theatre,​ ​music​ ​and​ ​design​ ​make​ ​her​ ​the​ ​ideal​ ​person​ ​to​ ​edit​ ​the​ ​highly popular​ ​Spectrum​ ​section.
