Anglicare & goa Broadcast Mental Health Campaign In Real Time

Social welfare charity Anglicare has teamed up with Queensland media provider goa for its upcoming ‘Arts&Minds’ campaign which aims to raise funds to support people living with mental health challenges.

The campaign invites them and others who make art to reinforce their mental wellbeing to create and share a work of art which will be broadcasted live via goa’s state-of-the-art digital billboard network – THE goa GRID.

Hundreds of thousands of Brisbane commuters will have a chance to see the work of six talented Queensland artists over a six-week period, beginning early this month after the successful Anglicare Arts&Minds finalists were announced last Thursday.

The chosen artists – Kyan De Vere from Mudgeeraba, Rochelle Alahendra from Daisy Hill, Cielle van Vuuren from The Gap, Jayne Curle from Elanora, Ash Peel from Manly, and Lorelle Murray from Coolum, were selected from a field of more than 150 who nominated to win one of the coveted week-long rotations on THE goa GRID throughout greater Brisbane.

Chris Tyquin, CEO and joint managing director at goa, said: “We are excited to be a part of the Arts&Minds campaign. This is an important issue [mental health] that we as a society should face together.

“We have some incredibly talented local artists and this campaign will afford them a platform to showcase not only their art, but their personal story in support of the cause.”

Anglicare’s Christina Walker said as each artist completes their work over an eight-hour period, they will be livestreamed to the Anglicare Southern Queensland Facebook Page, with a snapshot of their progress uploaded to the goa billboards.

“For the remainder of the week, that work will ‘hang’ on the billboards and our website,” she said.

“And throughout each week of the campaign, a concurrent live auction will be held, with the highest bidder at the end of the seven days winning that week’s painting.

“We have been delighted that so many artists see the value in this fundraiser, and we know those who bid on the art will love to see their bid go up in lights on the billboards and on our website.”

Each of the chosen artists – and some of their previous works – will be featured on the artsandminds.org.au website between now and when the challenge gets underway on Tuesday.
