Time To Panic! Coles In Price Dispute With Arnott’s Over Tim Tams

The supermarket war has a new battle, the battle of the biscuits. Arnott’s, the makers of Tim Tam, have cut supply to Coles after the supermarket giant refused to pass a ten per cent price hike.

The dispute started back in October when Arnott’s requested a price rise on some of its biscuits including Scotch Finger, Teddy Bear, Monte Carlo and TeeVee Snacks. At the time, Coles accepted price rises of up to 9.9 per cent on 44 Arnott’s biscuit.

But Coles is refusing to accept the price rise on some Tim Tam varieties. In response Arnott’s to stop supplying Coles the multi-packs of Tim Tam as well as the Adriano Zumbo’s coconut cream, choc raspberry and salted caramel varieties.

“Arnott’s refused to give us the detail on this (price increase),” Coles managing director John Durkan told The Australian. “So we had to refuse the cost increase.

“When we refused the cost increase, Arnott’s refused to supply us.”
