New Quiksilver Flagship Store Comes Complete With Full Bar
Surf brand QUIKSILVER has added to its series of new iconic store concepts with the launch of the Australian ‘Boardriders’ in Coolangatta on the Gold Coast.
The store held its official opening celebrations alongside the launch of the QUIKSILVER and ROXY Pro. Athlete signings were hosted in store Friday afternoon, with key QUIKSILVER and ROXY athletes including Stephanie Gilmore and Dane Reynolds meeting and greeting fans.
The first of its kind in Australia, the concept is a unique blend of surf, skate, snowboard, lifestyle and art. The exciting new retail experience show
QUIKSILVER’s core retail brands including QUIKSILVER, ROXY and DC Shoes – all housed under the one roof.
To help encourage this creative community hub, other cutting-edge elements of the store include, ’28 Cooly’– a chilled out terrace bar adjacent to the store offering a menu of fresh and organic treats like toast, coffee and smoothies, as well as beer, wine and snacks for afternoon drinks and dinner. The store also houses a cosy lounge area with computers and free WiFi plus hosts weekly in store yoga classes and live performances from local bands.
With a number of Boardriders based in quintessential surfer-centric areas across France, Portugal and Spain, with stores also in Russia – their 14th Boardriders store is no better placed than Coolangatta, just a stone’s throw from some of the most famous surf spots on the Gold Coast.
QUIKSILVER‘s Asia Pacific President Greg Healy said he was delighted with the new store location.
“We have held the QUIKSILVER and ROXY Pros at Snapper Rocks for the past 13 years, so Coolangatta is the ideal location to open our newest Boardriders retail concept,” said Mr Healy.
Accessible through three separate entrances and offering breathtaking views of the lush Pacific Ocean, Boardriders is home to over 500 boards. It was designed around two main surfboards carousels, the first carousel travels from top to bottom on the main façade, and the second is located inside above the retail floor. Local artist and QUIKSILVER collaborator Wade Lewis has celebrated the iconic location by painting a photograph of the legendary Snapper Rocks surf spot onto one of the exterior walls of Boardriders.
The interior maintains a strong architectural style and beautiful 945m2 open space that provide plenty of natural light – combining urban elements like concrete, brick and metal with organic wood and glass – QUIKSILVER’s mineral DNA.
Each QUIKSILVER brand sits harmoniously within Boardriders Coolangatta. Natural wood surrounds the classic QUIKSILVER beach, apparel and technical surfing range while the ROXY, PopSurf and Fitness collections are complemented by an ocean-inspired white salt-wash wood. The DC collection, on the other hand, is presented in an urban street setting with it’s signature skate wall covered in over 50 skateboards and a fresh sneaker offering.
Combining the spirit of boardsports, art and the most advanced products for surf and skate, Boardriders Coolangatta is THE place to be during the QUIKSILVER and ROXY Pro for surfers, skaters and sport enthusiasts alike.
