Today Show reporter Christine Ahern broke down in tears after being reunited with her family after months of no travel between Queensland and Melbourne.

Here at B&T, we aren’t normally so emotional but it’s Christmas and it’s been a bloody hard year. So we wanted to share this good news story with you.

The borders have finally opened between Melbourne and Brisbane after many months thanks to the pandemic.

Ahern was on the first flight from Melbourne to Brisbane and was surprised to be greeted by her excited family at the airport. It was everything good television should be emotional, sweet and frankly touching.

Ahern was expected to be greeted by her sister and then see her parents in a couple of days, but instead, she was surprised by the whole family!

She was reunited with her Mum, Dad, sister and nieces and nephews – the whole gang! There was hugging, kissing and tears.

The whole moment felt like a scene at the beginning of the Christmas classic Love Actually.

David Campbell and Sylvia Jefferies were also clearly touched by the display of emotion and love.

Ahern called it, “the best work morning ever.”

Ahern’s Dad Mike said in true Aussie fashion: “Lovely darl and good to see you.”

It was simply a straight-up heartwarming moment.
