From today LinkedIn will open up its publishing platform for all members, not just influencers, and will introduce a new lot of influencers to the mix.
Members can now publish original, long-form content themselves tied to their professional identities, which can then be shared with their connections and trusted networks.
Where previously only specific influencers were able to publish the long-form content, the ability for anyone now gives members the potential to reach the 277 million members globally.
A new crop of influencers has also been introduced who will share their wisdom and expertise with eager and willing LinkedIn members.
Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, Financial Expert and CNBC host Suzie Orman and Morgan Stanley CEO James Gorman are some of the new faces, joining existing influencers AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Telstra CEO David Thodey.
According to the release: “Today’s announcement is the next big step forward toward achieving LinkedIn’s goal of becoming the definitive publishing platform for professionals, helping members become better in their jobs by giving them a single destination to consume, create and share relevant professional content from the largest group of professionals ever assembled.
“The ability to publish original content will begin with a small group of LinkedIn’s English-speaking member base, and will expand to all members in the coming months.”
