F1 Racer Daniel Ricciardo Stars In Utterly Insane Red Bull Video That Shames Most Tourism Australia Ads

Aussie F1 racer Daniel Ricciardo may not be doing too much F1 racing at the moment after taking a job as reserve driver for the  world champion team, Red Bull.

That means Ricciardo’s job – that still comes with a $US2.1 million ($A3.1 million) annual salary –  is to fill-in should one of the team’s top drivers take ill, test the cars and do PR and promotions.

And ahead of Sunday’s Aussie F1 race, the 33-year-old Perth native has just released a crazy, movie-quality nine-minute video of him in an F1 car racing around some iconic Aussie scenes including the fabled Mount Panorama track at Bathurst.

The video’s called titled Daniel Ricciardo’s Great Aussie Road Trip and continues Red Bull’s long history of crazy stunt films designed to flog more of its soft drink to its target demographic of young males.

Still, it’s so beautifully shot it almost works as a cool Aussie travel ad too.

Check out the full nine-minutes below:

Commenting on the video, Ricciardo said:  “After my first Red Bull Racing Road Trip in San Francisco, I’ve always wanted the opportunity to do this in Australia.

“To be back home, taking the RB7 [car] across the Aussie outback, and sharing the best Australia has to offer with the world; what better way to celebrate my first F1 event at home since returning to Oracle Red Bull Racing.”
