“Over $100K More!” Aussie Tech Workers Are Being Offered Big Bucks To Stay In Their Roles

Matthew Munson the managing director at talent has revealed that tech employees are being offered up to $100,000 dollars not to leave their current positions.

The Australian Financial Review has reported that engineers and software developers are currently being offered pretty big money to stay in their roles.

Some tech employees are getting their salaries increased by more than 45 per cent by employers who are keen to retain them. Basically, if you are in tech tap your boss on the shoulder and ask for a raise!

Currently, the tech industry in Australia is suffering from a lack of talent.  You only have to be a regular reader of B&T to see the rise in new tech start-ups.

Naturally, tech employers are now motivated to keep their staff.  Which is forcing the industry to fork out more money to get talent and keep them.

No one understands this better than Manson, who is the director of Talent Australia’s largest and most awarded technology & digital recruitment business. He has been witnessing first-hand how desperate tech companies are to hold onto their top talent.

Munson told the AFR, “The highest we’ve seen is candidates offered $100,000 more than their current annual salary so they don’t leave.

“People have gone from $150,000 to $250,000 per year, which is just unheard of.”

The AFR has reported that software developers have seen a salary increase of about 51 per cent. Meanwhile, senior developers saw a 47 per cent increase – not too shabby!

The Australian tech world is booming and so are salaries.
