Billie Eilish Leveraged The Met Gala To Get A Designer To Stop Using Fur

Singer Billie Eilish has announced that she only agreed to wear Oscar de la Renta to the Met Gala after the brand promised to stop using fur.

Eilish who has just been named one of Times most influential people, flexed her influence when she explained that she got the designer brand to stop using fur, by simply asking them to stop. Assumedly PETA, had already tried this technique, but whatever works.

Eilish explained on Instagram that she chatted with the designers behind the infamous brand about the issue, and they agreed to forgo fur.

Eilish said: “I’m honoured to have been a catalyst and to have been heard on this matter.”

Once Eilish understood the brand had implemented a no fur policy, she agreed to wear a custom Oscar de la Renta gown to the Met Gala.

The New York Times, reported that Eilish’s team told the Oscar de la Renta team that she would not work with any fashion house that was in the fur business.

The fashion brand’s chief executive Alex Boden, told The New York Times, “I thought a lot about what Oscar said, he was a big fan of fur, by the way, that the one thing he really worried about in the fashion business was his eye getting old.”

Oscar de La Renta now joins a slew of designer brands that have forgone fur for a more ethical future.
