Leading strategic insights consultancy, Nature, has announced a new best-in-class parental leave policy, building on its commitment to introducing industry-leading employee culture and well-being initiatives across its Sydney and Melbourne offices.

Nature’s new parental leave policy offers six months paid parental leave (including superannuation) in addition to its existing obligation to provide 12 months of unpaid parental leave.

Further additions to the policy include support for employees undergoing IVF, with Nature providing two days of leave per cycle for two cycles per annum, including for the support partner. Also new is the inclusion of pre-adoption and surrogacy support, also covering support partners.

The entitlements apply in addition to any entitlement an employee has under the Australian Government Paid Parental Leave scheme.

Nature’s managing partner, Chris Crook, said, “People are our number one asset at Nature. Like all Australians, our people have been through some tough times over the past 18 months and we need to focus on caring for them and their overall wellbeing.”

“Our new parental leave policy means we can offer stability and surety in uncertain times. It’s about normalising care. We want to be as inclusive as possible and empower all our employees to feel free to make big life decisions without the stress of employment being part of the decision-making process.”

The new policy adds to Nature’s other well-being initiatives, including an additional two days of annual leave for all full-time employees, and tenure-based annual leave which rewards full-time team members with extra days of annual leave based on how many years they have been consistently employed; flexible working which gives people the freedom to “flex” their hours and location of work from week to week; and “feel-good Fridays” in the fourth quarter of the year.

“Feel-good Fridays” start in October, allowing all full and part time employees to take off one Friday a month in the final quarter of 2021 (or another day if they don’t work Fridays).

Nature partner and Melbourne managing director, Justin Connally, said: “Our new parental leave policy goes beyond standard care for our people, and we think it’s the best in our industry.”

“Our people are our lifeblood. Their well-being is paramount, which is why we ensure our policies are at the forefront of the market. Whether it’s the regular externally facilitated sessions on various topics around mental and physical health, weekly personal training sessions, or a constant supply of healthy snacks when we’re in the office – we supply our team with the tools they need and the opportunity to grow, while always keeping their livelihood at heart.”
