Sunday TV Wrap: AFL Elimination Final Nabs Just Under 800,000 Viewers

Sunday arvo’s AFL elimination final scored a nice 789,000 viewers for Seven, according to OzTAM’s metro dara.

In the game, the Bombers were resoundingly beaten by the Western Bulldogs.

After much grappling for second place in the entertainment ratings, The Block took out silver on Sunday night, scoring 828,000 viewers.

Despite a slow start, The Block seems to have found it’s groove, at least on the weekends. Australian Survivor also performed as it has been throughout it’s run, rating in the high 600,000s. On Sunday, the average was 676,000 viewers.

But leading the entertainment ratings was The Voice with 1,167,000, with viewership surviving the transition from Blind Auditions to the Knockouts round.

On top overall was Seven News with 1,338,000 viewers, while Nine News had 1,132,000 and ABC News had 690,000.

Proving the Sunday night appetite for heinous true crimes is strong as ever, Homicide: With Ron Iddles netted 531,000 viewers for Seven.

The ABC’s new drama The Newsreader continued to perform solidly with 440,000 viewers, while the network also premiered a new doco by the bona fide king of the jungle: David Attenborough’s Global Adventure, which had 437,000 viewers. The network also had Insiders with 305,000 viewers and Landline with 271,000.

For Nine, 60 Minutes had 484,000 viewers, while Nine News: Late Edition had 383,000 and the NRL had 306,000.

Over on 10, The Sunday Project had 448,000 viewers while 10 News First had 321,000.

Finally for Seven, day five of the Paralympic Games had 336,000 viewers in the afternoon session, while Weekend Sunrise had 287,000 viewers.

The Seven Network won the night overall with 37.6 per cent of the daily share, coming in with over 10 per cent more of the total viewership than the second most watched network. That was Nine, which had 26.2 per cent – and was another 10 per cent higher than the third most watched network, 10, which had 16.4 per cent.

Finally, the ABC TV Network had 13.3 per cent and the SBS Network had 6.5 per cent.
