Research Shows Harry Potter Is The Most Popular Wedding Trend On Pinterest

A new report by money.co.uk has revealed that the most commonly saved wedding trend on Pinterest was Harry Potter.

A Harry Potter-themed wedding could range from subtle nods to the series through, say, a red and gold Gryffindor color scheme or golden snitch topped cake to a lavish, all-out Yule Ball recreation.

Indeed, Harry Potter was the number one wedding trend – despite the book series ending in 2007 and the fim series in 2010 – based on number of boards created around a specific wedding theme.

For those a little less Hogwarts inclined, the next two most popular weddings were ‘Vintage’ and ‘Earthy’.

While vintage can mean just about anything (early 2000s Paris Hilton or 70s ABBA themed ceremony, anyone?), the research shows that pins saved to these boards frequently featured classic Princess Austin wedding cars, wedding dresses with lace and beading, flower arrangements of white, green and peach and traditional white icing tier wedding cakes.

1920s weddings came in 6th and Great Gatsby wedding came in at 15th, surely featuring lots of green lights.

The study compared the number of Pinterest Boards created for more than 250 wedding themes and trends, including wedding dress styles and bridal boutiques, to wedding venues and destinations.

The most popular wedding dress was ‘sparkly wedding dress’ with 2485 boards, followed by ‘Disney wedding dress’ with 1521 boards.

Some favoured tradition, with ‘Vintage wedding dress’ coming in third with 1139 boards, while others eschewed it as ‘Two-piece wedding dress’ and ‘Bridal jumpsuit’ had 1015 and 919 boards respectively.

Top of the most popular bouquet list was the cheery sunflower with 891 boards, followed by the classic rose bouquet at 876 boards.

The most popular venue was farm weddings with 1004  boards (anyone for a line-dance?) while garden parties came in second and beach weddings came in third, tied with marquee weddings.

Finally, the most popular destination was Morocco, saved on 1001 boards, followed by Greece with 1000 and France with 999.
