Sunday TV Wrap: Seven’s Craig McLachlan Doco Performs Well Amid Continued Controversy
Seven’s Craig McLachlan documentary came fourth overall with 720,000 viewers according to OzTAM, amid fresh allegations against the actor.
The decision to air the documentary, called ‘Horror Show’ was controversial, garnering criticism on social media. ABC presenter Julia Zemiro tweeted, “do something else on a Sunday night. get together with friends. Cook a great meal. Watch a movie.”
McLachlan was found not-guilty of sexual assault after being accused by four women.
However, new court documents show three more female actors accusing McLachlan of sexual assault. A fellow male actor has accused him of bullying and intimidation.
The allegations came to light on the night of the documentary.
McLachlan is suing the ABC, Fairfax, and an actress for defamation.
Coming top of the TV charts was Seven News with 1,077,000 viewers, followed by Nine News with 934,000.
Lego Masters had a particularly good night, scoring 901,000 viewers, while MasterChef performed solidly with 586,000.
Separating the two, though, was ABC News with 604,000.
The ABC’s revamped Spicks and Specks netted 486,000, followed by Seven’s AFL coverage, which had 481,000 viewers.
10’s night saw The Sunday Project nab 315,000 viewers, while 10 News First had 302,000 and FBI: Most Wanted had 277,000.
For Nine, 60 Minutes had 447,000 viewers while Nine News: Late Edition had 270,000 and the Sunday afternoon NRL had 269,000.
Over at the ABC, Sunday morning Insiders had 266,000 viewers and Landline had 233,000.
Finally, at Seven, Crime Investigation Australia: Most Infamous had 327,000 viewers and Weekend Sunrise had 253,000.
Nine won the night with 31 per cent of the daily share, while Seven came in second with 28 per cent. Next was Network 10 with 20 per cent, followed by the ABC Network with 12 per cent, and the SBS Network with seven per cent.
